Welcome

 lines2

Today these seeming simple recordings many with family members usually surrounding some special event, offer us a time capsule that the written word cannot offer. You can hear the emotions and feelings in the spoken word that is impossible to put on paper. Rediscover how it felt to be with missing family and friends.

I love to listen to them on an original player. But you need a plan to preserve the fragile recording. Even playing a wire on a properly working player will eventually cause a break or a tangle that will require you to cut out a section that is now lost forever. This was such a problem the original documentation for the player had instructions on how to knot the wire back together again. Then it was an inconvenience, today it is a tragedy.

This very thin wire is tightly spooled and a malfunctioning player can quickly and secretly ruin your wire. The tight packing keeps the wire from tangling into an unimaginable mess which will cost you substantial wire loss. Unfortunately because of the design of these players theGraphic2 loss of proper tension is one of the most common and insidious problems. By the time you know there is a problem with the machine you already have critically weakened the tension making a successful rewind or playback next to impossible. Please make sure the felt pads used in the tension system is replaced and the springs used to create the tension are working correctly. I cannot over emphasize the importance of this critical and easily overlooked component to the player.

My process bypasses the antique technology as much as possible. The mechanical part of playing back the wire is the only piece of original technology used. The recoding passes through a customized modern pre-amplifier right off of the pickup head, bypassing final amplification. This allows me absolute control over the signal coming off the wire. I can adjust the sensitivity up to the point where I can literally hear the wire pass through the pickup. This ability allows me to pick up the tiniest sound recorded. It also eliminates the nasty hum that that can be introduced during playback. Depending on the quality of the original recording I have been able to achieve near CD quality playback with little or no noise heard at all.

I offer this service along with my professional experience with handling this antique equipment, and my personal assurance that I will perform the transfer to the best of my ability and treat your wires as if they were my own. If you wish to directly speak to me send me an e-mail with your phone number. I understand how difficult it is to send a rare and important personal treasure to a stranger I can offer are my testimonials and feedback as proof of my commitment.

Thank you
